The Werkbund Gestalt Octo is one of the more serious foil pokers in our Melbourne store cabinet - hand-forged in Russia from iron, finished with a rust-resistant alloy coating, and shaped with an octagonal grip that locks into your palm. Every one is individually made, so the piece you receive is unique. It's a tool for customers who care about every part of their setup.

Werkbund Gestalt Octo - 25 cm Hand-Forged Iron Foil Poker
Why We Stock This Poker
- Hand-forged iron body with a rust-resistant alloy coating that holds up across hundreds of sessions without corroding.
- Octagonal cross-section sits naturally in the palm - no slipping, no rotating, just precise hole placement.
- 25 cm length keeps your fingers well clear of hot charcoal and foil while you work.
- Works equally well on phunnel bowls and traditional multi-hole clay or stone heads.
- Each piece is individually forged by Werkbund artisans - small variations are part of the craft.
How to Use It
- Hold the poker by the textured octagonal grip section for the most control.
- Pierce the foil in an even, circular pattern - start at the outer edge and work inward.
- Space holes about 2-3 mm apart for consistent airflow across the bowl.
- For phunnels, leave the area directly above the spire clear.
- Wipe the tip clean after each session to prevent residue build-up.
Looking After It
- Wipe with a damp cloth after each use and dry immediately.
- Don't soak - brief water contact only to preserve the alloy coating.
- Store in a dry spot away from sustained moisture.

Does it work on phunnel bowls?
Yes - the fine tip handles both phunnel and multi-hole foil prep. For phunnels, pierce around the outer ring and leave the spire clear.
Why does my poker look slightly different from the photo?
Every Werkbund piece is individually hand-forged, so finish and texture vary subtly between units. That's the trade-off for buying a hand-made tool instead of a production one.
