Replacing It

• Unscrew the purge valve cap or cover from your hookah stem.
• Drop the steel ball into the valve housing — it should sit freely at the base.
• Replace the cover. At rest, the ball seals the port shut.
• When you blow through the hose, the ball lifts and releases stale smoke through the purge.

Care

• Remove and rinse the ball whenever you clean the stem — residue build-up stops the seal from seating properly.
• Dry fully before replacing.
• Replace if the ball shows pitting or corrosion that prevents a proper seal.

My purge doesn't work and I still have the ball — what else could it be?

Usually residue under the seat or a corroded ball. Pull the assembly apart, clean both the ball and the seat, dry thoroughly, reassemble. If it still fails, replace the ball.

Can I just leave the purge out?

You can, but you lose the ability to clear stale smoke cleanly — every purge becomes a draw-back instead. Worth replacing.
