The Echo arrives as a complete stem set — the column, downstem, tray, mouthpiece, hose, diffuser, magnetic connector and bowl seal — but Alpha leaves the base out by design. They want you to pair the stem with the vessel that matches your home, your aesthetic and your session style. Because the Echo is engineered to work with both gasket-fit AND threaded bases, you have wider pairing flexibility than most premium stems offer.

How To Use

1. Insert the downstem into your chosen base. For a gasket-fit base, the silicone seal creates an airtight fit. For a threaded base (Alpha's exclusive system), thread the stem onto the connector until locked.
2. Fill the base with cold water until the downstem tip is submerged 1–2 cm.
3. Snap the magnetic hose into the connector port at the base of the stem.
4. Set your draw — rotate the 3-level diffuser to find your preferred resistance.
5. Place your chosen bowl onto the silicone cone seat at the top.
6. Top with foil and coconut charcoal, or fit a heat management device on the bowl.
7. Draw to start. Exhale gently into the mouthpiece to purge — the 360° system vents evenly in all directions around the stem.

Care & Maintenance

• After each session, empty the base and rinse the downstem with warm water only.
• Anodised aluminium parts (matte black upper column, gold overlay strip): warm water and mild soap only. No abrasives, acids, solvents or alkaline cleaners — these will damage the anodised finish. Protect from impacts, scratches, prolonged moisture and overheating.
• TiN-coated stainless steel parts (downstem, tray, mouthpiece, diffuser, magnetic-port housing, bowl cone): can be cleaned with a stem brush and warm soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive pads to preserve the gold coating. Wipe dry to avoid water spots.
• Keep the magnetic hose port dry between sessions.
• Allow all components to dry fully before reassembly or storage.

What does "Echo" refer to in the name?

Alpha named the line for the visual signature — the concentric ripple lines engraved across the 19 cm gold tray, radiating outward like sound waves echoing across water. The official Alpha tagline for the line is "the voice that lingers" — restrained, considered, with a presence that stays in the room without demanding it. The 360° purge system reinforces the metaphor: smoke vents evenly in all directions from a sealed chamber, like the ripple pattern made three-dimensional.

Is the gold on the hardware real gold?

No — it's titanium nitride (TiN) coating applied to stainless steel. TiN is a hard ceramic compound used industrially on cutting tools, surgical instruments and luxury watches because it's significantly more wear- and scratch-resistant than untreated stainless, and it finishes in a warm bronze-toned gold. Alpha runs the same TiN process across the X Gold, ORO and Smart EXZO Gold — durable by design, not just decorative. The gold overlay strip on the upper column is gold-anodised aluminium, where the colour is bonded into the surface of the metal rather than painted on top.

How does the Echo differ from the Smart Box line?

Architecture and scale. The Smart Box (EXZO, Panelka, Gold, Tribal Black) is a compact cubic format with an integrated plexiglass water chamber — self-contained, apartment-friendly, no separate base needed. The Echo is a full-size traditional stem hookah — 485 mm tall, requires a separate glass base, scaled for the centre-of-table session. Different formats, different occasions. Both share Alpha's engineering quality, magnetic hose connector and St. Petersburg pedigree.

Why doesn't the Echo come with a glass base?

By design. Alpha intentionally ships the Echo as a stem set so you can choose the vessel that matches your setup — and because the Echo is engineered for both gasket-fit AND threaded base systems, you have wider compatibility than most premium stems. Most quality hookah bases will pair with it. The flexibility is a feature, not an oversight.

What is a 360° purge?

When you exhale into the hose to clear stale air, the smoke vents outward from the stem in all directions from a sealed valve chamber — not vertically (like Alpha's X) or downward (like the Smart Box's waterfall). The 360° system is quieter and creates a circular plume around the stem rather than a directional jet. It's Alpha's signature engineering moment on the Echo line and the visual reference for the "echo rings" tray engraving.

How do I care for the anodised parts and the gold finish?

For the anodised aluminium upper column and gold overlay strip, use warm water and mild soap only — no abrasives, acids, alkaline cleaners or solvents.
