The Aurum is the milk-fired version of DON's Pika — same character sculpt, but the traditional milk-firing process gives it a warm, golden tone you can't replicate with a glaze. We've had this one in our Melbourne store cabinet for collectors who want the Pika silhouette in a more grown-up finish.

Looking After It

• Always cool fully before any water contact.
• Warm-water rinse with a soft brush is plenty.
• Dry completely before storage.
• Milk-fired clay seasons over time and develops slightly improved heat retention.

What does milk firing actually do?

It's an old-school technique where the clay is treated with milk during the firing process. The result is a denser, more durable bowl with a warm gold tone baked into the clay itself — not a surface coating.

Is the Aurum more durable than the standard Pika?

Functionally yes — milk firing tightens the clay structure and the bowl tends to last longer than an unglazed clay piece, in our experience.
