How to use it

• Pack your phunnel bowl just below the spire — a touch lower than you would for foil.
• Place the D-Heater directly onto the bowl rim. No foil needed.
• Drop 2 or 3 fully-lit 26 mm coconut coals into the open top.
• Rotate coals every 7–10 minutes for even heat. Move coals to the centre to bring more heat, or to the edge to back off.

Care & cleaning

• Let the D-Heater cool fully before handling — open-top HMDs hold heat in the body for a while after the session ends.
• Soak in warm water with a little dish soap to lift carbon from the inside.
• Clean with a soft brush or cloth only — abrasives will dull the anodised silver finish.
• Dry completely and store away from moisture.

The D-Heater is built for flat-lipped phunnel bowls, which covers most modern designs. If you're not sure about your specific bowl, bring it into our Melbourne store and we'll test fit it before you buy.

Open-top vs lidded HMD — which should I pick?

Open-top devices like the D-Heater are faster to react with and easier to learn on. Lidded devices like the Lotus retain more heat and need less coal rotation. Our team is happy to walk you through both styles in store.
