The Provost 3 is one of the few HMDs we'll happily set up for a customer at our Melbourne counter just to show how forgiving it is. Three to four cube coals, a vented lid, and two CenteRings in the box — it's the device we point first-time HMD users toward when they want serious control without learning a bunch of new tricks.

Setting it up

• Pack your bowl and stretch heavy-duty foil tightly across the top
• Poke holes evenly across the foil
• Pick the CenteRing that matches your bowl size and seat it on the foil
• Drop the Provost 3 tray inside the CenteRing
• Add 3–4 fully lit coconut cubes to the tray
• Open or close the lid vent to dial heat in
• Adjust the vent throughout the session as needed

Cleaning

• Let it cool completely before touching
• Soak in warm water to lift residue
• Scrub gently with a non-abrasive brush or sponge
• Rinse and dry fully before storage
• Skip harsh chemical cleaners on the stainless

FAQ

Will it fit my bowl?

Almost certainly — the two CenteRings between them cover most standard bowl rim sizes. If you'd like to be sure, bring your bowl into our Melbourne store and we'll match it up.

Foil-free or foil-based?

The Provost 3 uses foil — the CenteRing sits on the foil and the tray sits inside the ring. If you want a foil-free Kaloud-style HMD, our team can point you to the right device in store.

Can I use it with three coals instead of four?

Yes — three is plenty for most bowls. Four is for longer sessions or denser packs.
